What this does
Renaming two hundred files by hand is an afternoon. This applies one rule to all of them at once.
Nothing is renamed until you confirm, and you see the exact new names first.
How to use it
- Choose the folder you want to work on.
- Add a rule, for example find and replace, add a prefix, or number them in sequence.
- Read the preview column carefully. That is exactly what you will get.
- Apply when it looks right.
The rules you can use
- Find and replace: swap one piece of text for another
- Add a prefix or suffix: put something at the start or end
- Numbering: number files in order, with padding like 001 and 002
- Change case: make names upper, lower, or title case
- Trim: strip a set number of characters from either end
Stacking rules
Rules run top to bottom, each acting on the result of the one before. So you can strip a messy prefix, then number what is left. If the preview looks wrong, the usual cause is rule order.
Your privacy
Your files never leave your device. The browser is given permission to that one folder and does the renaming locally. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored on a server.
Common questions
Can I undo it?
Not from inside the tool, which is exactly why the preview exists. Check it before applying, and on an irreplaceable folder take a copy first.
Why does it ask for folder permission?
A web page cannot touch your files unless you explicitly grant access to one folder. That prompt is the browser protecting you, and the permission ends when you close the tab.
Does it go into subfolders?
It works on the folder you choose. Subfolders are handled separately.
